One Year of Progress in European Cybersecurity

· Dissemination and Exploitation of result

September 2025 marks the completion of the first year of TrustBoost, an EU-funded project coordinated by NSAI and supported by a consortium of 11partners across six countries. With a budget of €3 million, co-funded bythe Digital Europe Programme, TrustBoost is working to unify and strengthen cybersecurity certification across Europe, helping to build a more resilient and transparent digital marketplace.

Building the Foundation

In its first year, TrustBoost established its governance and management structures, completed 11 deliverables — including five submitted ahead of the August deadline — and engaged more than 95professionals across the consortium.

Key achievements include:

  • Training and Skills Development: More than 1,200 hours of training delivered to 65+ participants from over 30 organisations. A skills and capabilities analysis identified priority areas, leading to the creation of two additional technical training modules.
  • Stronger Governance: A baseline governance framework and initial management systems analysis were developed, laying the groundwork for more harmonised certification practices across Europe.
  • Platform Design: Work advanced on a new online platform that will simplify certification processes, improve transparency, and strengthen trust in digital products and services. Early progress included a generic taxonomy, a stakeholder needs analysis, and the definition of five user personas to ensure the platform is practical and user-focused.
  • Communication and Outreach: More than 29 dissemination activities were completed across Europe, a new project website was launched, and LinkedIn engagement grew significantly, helping extend TrustBoost’s visibility and impact.

Looking Ahead

As TrustBoost moves into its second year, the focus willshift to cross-border collaboration, the development of a prototype platform, pilot certifications, and further training opportunities.

A Collaborative Team

Behind these achievements is a dedicated and diverse team— spanning national authorities, certification bodies, testing laboratories, and vendors. The first Advisory Board meeting in September 2025 highlighted not only the project’s technical progress, but also the collaborative spirit and commitment that have been central to its success.

TrustBoost is already delivering on its mission: simplifying certification, bridging gaps between standards, and supporting a more secure European digital landscape. With a solid foundation in place and strong momentum, the project is well positioned for even greater impact in the years
ahead.
